Too lazy to sew - Sweater button

No sew button
You'll Need:

  • button
  • thread
  • safety pin

Many times, I find myself wishing my sweater had a button so that I could either cover my lunch belly or just to keep my sweater from flying open while I walk. If you find yourself in this situation and are too lazy to sew buttons for every sweater you own, then this is the answer for you!

First I purchased a bag of assorted buttons. You can probably find these in any craft section or store. If you are picky, then you could actually grab actual buttons that match specific sweaters. I purchased an assorted bag because I find myself wishing I had a button for various sweaters. With this assortment, I'm sure to find a button that will match.

Second, pick a thread color to match the button and "sew" it in. Make sure the back is slightly loose. I kept it loose by placing a paper clip in the back and removing it once the thread was in. You want it loose so you can loop your safety pin in.

Then just close your sweater and stick a safety pin through by itself

Loop the safety pin through the loose thread on the button

And close the safety pin. Make sure the safety pin isn't showing and you're all set!
